We listen, act, and transform
Hi there, I'm Marianna!
My name is Marianna Birdsong. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Southern California and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with the adult population and specialize in anxiety, stress, and life changes, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I believe that therapy should be tailored to the individual's needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for adults who may be dealing with daily life hassles and major life changes. Life changes often present the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help my clients navigate these periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. I tend to use humor as a way of connecting with others and helping to ease any tensions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. My journey to become a therapist has been long. During this journey, all my previous endeavors were all related to helping others. Whether it was as an Emergency Medical Technician, massage therapist, peer counselor, or being that friend who always there for others. I enjoy seeing individuals grow and gain a better understanding of themselves.
My goals for you
I can help by creating an outline of specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-specific (SMART) goals. I like to think that setting goals are important aspect of treatment. The goals can be adjusted as needed during the treatment if needed as it is not set in stone.
My first session with you
During the first session, a client can expect to discuss the reason for seeking treatment and discuss expectations. I liked to think of the first session as a get to know each other. I believe the first session will set the stage for success.
